Colchester: MP supports your newspaper
Colchester MP Bob Russell has lent his support to the Gazette as part of Local Newspaper Week.
Mr Russell has tabled an early day motion, calling on the Government to recognise the role played by local newspapers in their community.
He said: "It is a vital source of information for anybody involved in public life."

...And a vital source of free publicity for the attention hungry, stunt pulling, baby kissing, cheap headline grabbing politician.
And as if to prove a point he tables an early day motion (usually reserved for matters of genuine importance)to ask the government "to recognise the role played by local newspapers in their community" - A great way to guarantee a headline in your very own, very grateful local newspaper.
For god's sake Bob.

A story involving "rent-a-quote" Bob Russell is hardly worth the paper it's written on is it?

**** right MrC.... Just try getting him involved in an important campaigning issue. Unfortunately 'stickability' isn't a word that springs instantly to mind.

Congratulations Mr Russell, you have really excelled yourself this time. Most companies have to pay to advertise in the newspaper, you manage to attach yourself to any story headline free of charge. You promise the world but deliver very little, like a true politician you never cease to amaze me. Mr Russell, I am having a pancake day to raise funds for the save the honest politician, I could do with a Tosser if you are free?

Bob is a good man who does a lot for this town. At least he lives here and has worked his way up to MP. I don't normally vote Lib Dem, but I do vote for Bob. Unlike that silly Tory Skallia woman who is both rude and does not even live here - rents a house and claims to live in Colchester. If she becomes the next MP for Colchester I am moving! Her and that Jenkins idiot should elope to the outer corners of the planet and leave us all in peace! They are an embarrassment to the Tory party!

Tory Voter, I suggest you hold off selling your house until the market gets better. Mr Russell may be from Colchester but his only efforts seem to be, writing letters and sticking a stamp on it, even then, he doesn't personally do the work. I suggest you and Mr Russell move to Lapland, I hear that is up for sale.

So Bob's a good man just because he lives here 'Tory Voter' - blimey, you're easily pleased.
I'd like a comprehensive list of what he's actually [bold]delivered[/bold] for the town - he's a constant fixture in the media calling for things to happen (usually non-contentious things that he hopes everyone will agree with), but that's not the same as getting things done.
Mr Russell's background is in journalism and he's a dab hand it creating a story from nothing with the sole purpose of 'earning' himself a few column inches. Once again job done, now put your feet up 'til the next time Bob.
