TWO long-serving bosses at Colchester Council have left.

Head of street and leisure services, Keith Nicholson, and head of renaissance, Steve Clarke, both said farewell to the authority on Monday.

Mr Nicholson led talks over the building of Colchester's new art gallery, Firstsite Newsite, while Mr Clarke took the lead on the community stadium.

Chief executive Adrian Pritchard told the Gazette: "Both Keith and Steve were highly-valued members of staff."

Good luck Keith. Steve who?

They were a couple of useless wasters - good to see the back of them to be honest - should have happened years ago!

I have no opinion whether these guys were good at bad at their job. I find it worrying, however, that the people in charge of two large projects will not be around to either see them to conclusion or answer questions later on.

James, that's why these two have gone, so they don't have to answer questions! They've left us council tax payers with huge debts on these two white elephants.

Get out before the s**t hits the fan over two big white elephants that are a laughing stock and will blight the town for years to come.

Rats? Sinking ships?

Everyone above has it right and now Colchester is sitting with a heap of empty flats, how long before some of the planning committee leave before the doodo hits the fan?

Did they get their leaving presents (no doubt paid for by taxpayers) in a symbolic last brown envelope?

Here's a Colchester council job taken from their website - pays 32.5 grand a year

"Job title: Channel Migration Manager

Put your Customer Management skills to the test. This new role has been created to maximise our efficiency thorough our channels of communication and thoroughly investigate the best way to improve service delivery to our customers."

What the f**k does that mean? Can't believe my taxes pay for this.

To arrange a mass migration of councilors and council offices across the Channel?
Press Officer?
Public Relations Officer?
Got it - Wool Over Eyes Puller.

You role is to hide any bad news for as long a possible while thinking up an good excuse for when the public find out.

Your initial task will be to explain away all the empty and half finished flats, sorry executive apartments, in the town.

I couldn't believe my eyes when I read this. Good riddance to the first and good luck to the second. My dealings with the first led me to believe that he was holding Colchester back in so many ways. A thoroughly obstructive individual. As to Steve Clarke, he has done a good job and will no doubt become a scape goat for the two big issues mentioned above. Let's hope that we can move on now and make Colchester the place that makes people want to visit us.

I can't believe that people are being so mean-minded on here. Keith and Steve are both very hard-working council officers. It's not always an easy thing to work for the council, but they have done a brilliant job and I wish them both well.

Well done Sdapeze! Steve is one of the good guys and will be missed by those of us who deal with the council. Like you, I wish him the best of luck for the future.

Beverly. Of course you can believe it, this is where mean-minded people hang out. What I don't believe is that Mr Bonehead Hamilton hasn't got his dagger out as well. LOL.

Who's Mr Bonehead Hamilton?

I have put in my application for the Channel Migration Manager role, but the nice lady on the phone said I would stand a better chance if I was a black dyslexic disabled lesbian amputee - something to do with hitting equal opportunity quotas.

These people are entitled to their opinions Beverly and I think I know who you are and understand your support for your comrades, however the issues pointed out by these bloggers are justified. The remarks are also fair in light of CBC's past history. Everyone in the community knows how Keith's post came about, at the demise of John Simpson. We are all not stupid and know the rumors surrounding his departure. Where is he now? by the way, with another council again doing the same thing with a nice clean sheet reference? Yes there issues that need to be answered like S&P Leisure at the Sports Centre any bells here??? 1991. You all look after your own, parading around in your lunch hours at our expense, with your name tags hanging round your necks, as if we care who you are just get on with the work WE pay you for and leave the romanticisms to us. I presume the White Elephants mentioned will be the V.A.F. or Game For A Laugh G.F.A.L. ?? Who ever heard of a £22,000,000 White Elephant!!!

I have a question for any of these fellow hacks on this site. Where does our Chief Executive reside I understand it is not in our Borough, if this is still the case why not??? As the most senior titular head, of our local civil service, he should set the example to all of us little minnows, who pay his salary and live with us in the borough....!!!
