They are used to birdies at Stoke-by-Nayland Golf Club, but certainly not those with a six-foot wingspan.
An osprey has been attracting plenty of attention from golfers after helping itself to fish from the club’s reservoir.
Course manager Kevin King said the rare bird was first spotted there about three weeks ago.
“I knew what it was at the time as we have had one here once before, last year or the year before,” he said.
“It was fishing over the reservoir.”
After a couple of days, members of the club went on to a website for bird enthusiasts to advertise that the bird was at the golf club.
Its status seemed to grow from there.
“Most people are quite interested to see it. We had a lot of people turning up that week to have a look at it,” Mr King said.
The bird was spotted at the course again this week but has not been seen since then.
