Loan move for Cureton?

Jamie Cureton is willing to strike out with Colchester United again.

The 33-year-old Norwich City goal-getter is currently disillusioned with his lot at Carrow Road and would welcome another loan move to the Coca-Cola League One club.

Frustrated by his lack of first team starts with the Canaries – only three to date this term – Cureton, a 24-goal hero in the U’s first season of Championship football, told the Gazette: “If Colchester came in for me again I wouldn’t rule out another loan move.

“I enjoyed the best season of my career with Colchester United after an initial loan spell in which I scored seven goals in nine games.

“At the time I wasn’t getting a game with a team (Swindon Town) in a lower division, but Parky (former U’s boss Phil Parkinson) placed his faith in my ability and it worked out great for me and Colchester to prove these loan deals can work.

“Suddenly everyone wanted to know me. I couldn’t stop scoring for Swindon on my return.

“But I did my bit for Colchester the following season which gave me the chance to come back and play in the Championship.

“If it hadn’t been for that successful loan spell I would probably have missed out on that great season and the chance to score all those goals.

“To finish that season with the Golden Boot as the Championship’s top scorer was brilliant.

“I loved my time at Layer Road and I wouldn’t say no if Colchester came in with a loan deal for me again.”

Lets hope that 'part-time' Lambert has the sense to snap Cureton up on loan. At least it will be someone who wants to play for the U's.

He may no longer be up to Championship standard, but he's a proven goalscorer at this level whoever he has played for. Bring him back.

This would put an extra 2000 on the attendances if we signed him. Proven goalscorer some one we do not have.

I think I will find it difficult to forgive Jamie for his past actions but I might forget if her were to return, score some goals and put some passion (and confidence)back into a tired looking team!!!!!!! Give him a try Lambert

It wouldnt be a popular move with all U'S fans but you cant dispute his goalscoring ability and until Lambert can get our defence sorted IF WE CAN SCORE MORE GOALS THAN WE CONCEDE IT WILL MAKE ALL THE DIFFERENCE!

The guy played in the best side we ever fielded. The comments he made about the Club lacking ambition have been bourne out by subsequent events.

Who can blame any player for wanting to move on to further his career and get better money in the process?

He is certainly going to be a huge improvement on anyone in the current squad.

Whether Cowling will swallow his pride and let him back however might be a serious obstacle.

Extra 2000?!! lol.
Cureton, do us all a favour and stay where you are you turncoat. If you're kicking your heels you could always wash up in Delia's kitchen.

The trouble was that Cureton was 100% right in stating that the club lacked ambition. It still does with an appointment of a part time manager. Give me Cureton/Iwelumo any day to Platt/Vernon/ If we had paid them enough or not let Iwelumos contract run out ma be we would not be where we are today.

Cureton is better than Platt, Vernon and waste of money Gillespie put together. COme home and bring Parky with you. Lambert out! Why did Cowling give him the job when Ian Culverhouse is in charge Sun-Weds? Please sell up Cowling.

Strange comment Enforcer - Without Cowling where would we be ???? How many people do you know that are willing to put their own money into a business with very little (if any)return ?????

Excellent news! I hope the rumours are true. I saw him on the day we played Southend in Colchester early in the morning and I thought that he had to be around for a reason..maybe it was to see his nighbour, Kem Izzett? WHatever, he would be the answer to our prayers, I am sure. Get him by close of play tomorrow so he can help us out at Peterborough. Let's face it - he can't do any worse than what we've currently got.

If Cureton was 100% right then why let him come back on loan? Have to agree with you on Iwelumo though Crazy (it pains me to say). If he does come back on loan I hope all our games are postponed due to bad weather. Either that or the money I say from not watching will buy me some Col U gear for Xmas.
2000?!!! ya having a laugh!

all this about we should have kept cureton and iwelumo we had no choice they are getting £10,000+ a week with 3 year contracts lets be realistic. anyway we got cureton for nothing sold him for £800,000 and now we may get him back in the team for nothing ...result. lets forgive and forget and welcome him back and maybe the tide will turn

Well Cureton is not coming back as Mr Lambert is not interested.Well I just hope Southend or some other division one team signs him. Jermaine Easter has been signed instead. Did Nothing at Millwall so can not see it happeming here for him though it would be great if the opposite happened. He can not be any worse tham we already have. Lets hoping he gets 3 on Saturday. He will get 100% support from me

How miserable and negative can you lot get,it seems that if Cowling appointed Cappello and signed Ronaldo you would still be moaning, Poacher your spot on, he played in the best side we've had, and naturally wanted to better himself. Lets be realistic Colchester are a lower league side and we always will be. Why not get behind the club and try to motivate the players, 6 months ago you were crying out for Vernon to sign, now suddenly he's no good, if I was a player reading all the negative comments on here I wouldn't feel like given my best. Support the team or sod off to Portman Rd...

It's a great pity, Cureton would have been great, and it is Col U who should be ashamed at how they treated him at the end of that great season. I hope this bloke Easter is good, but why not the devil you know?
Iwelumo would have been good too, but he will never come back now, he is heading for the Premiership with Wolves, and good luck to him.

People have to remember we are not a huge team and we don't have a Chairman who has oddles of spare cash to dip into to help the team out by buying top draw players players.

The club's finances are mainly raised by developing players or getting bargain players in and selling them on.

Cureton was an unknown quantity before he came to us as was Lisbie and a whole host of players going right back.

At the end of the day despite everything else the club cashed in hugely on the transfers. You can't fault that as a business model.

Lets not judge Easter yet until we have seen him in action a few times. If we keep hold of him at the end of the season on a full contract then he might just turn out to be another profitable payday when the time comes and he moves on.
